Set the Table for Rain

Isn't it love?
This rain that falls on the sinners and the saint
Isn't it love?
This well that won't run dry
Isn't it love?
These mercies are made new every morning

Pretty plates
tiny tea lights
no need for utensils
we're eating with our hands
tonight
family-style

Bring your mess to the table
yes, fresh hot mess
no napkin required
rain will wash away our disarray

Tall empty glasses
to be filled up
the sky is pouring refreshments
no half-full, half-empty
free refills
on aged grace

Be advised, dear guest
of how to dress
bring your raincoat
and bright rain boots
dinner will be followed
by dancing in the rain
